THE
CHALLENGE

RRS was tasked with creating an engaging interactive touchscreen that would help tell the story of the Siemens Mobility footprint in North America as well as allow users to take a deeper look into the extensive array of products and services Siemens Mobility has to offer. In addition to the large, interactive touchscreens, Siemens Mobility also wanted content to be on iPads so that the tradeshow team would be able to have engaging 1:1 conversations with potential customers.

Tackling the challenge of condensing extensive information, over 100 pages of content, into a cohesive design and user-friendly experience required thoughtful consideration from the RRS team. The Siemens Mobility team had a big story to tell not only with content, but also utilizing existing videos, AR experiences, case studies and static imagery. RRS needed to strategically organize client assets to create a cohesive journey through Siemens Mobility’s offerings and create a successful user experience.

THE SOLUTION

Throughout the development of the touchscreen project for Siemens Mobility, a comprehensive site map was meticulously constructed. This map served as a blueprint, enabling Siemens to grasp the project's scope while aiding the RRS design team in conceptualizing the organization of content essential for crafting a seamless user experience. Updated regularly, this map evolved alongside the project as new content emerged or was removed.

RRS took charge of the touchscreen's aesthetics and functionality, crafting its look, feel, and user flow. This encompassed designing the "Tour Guide" feature and ensuring an intuitive layout adaptable to both large screens and smaller iPads. To visually represent Siemens Mobility's North American footprint and real-world solutions, interactive maps were created, complete with user-friendly legends and pins denoting points of interest. Overcoming challenges posed by pins with multiple content pieces, RRS provided innovative solutions.

Content curation was a collaborative effort, with Siemens Mobility's team sourcing material from various divisions to expedite project progression. Regular meetings were established to monitor progress and maintain alignment. Utilizing Figma, a prototype was developed, allowing Siemens Mobility to interact with and provide real-time feedback on the content, facilitating efficient review by the design team.

THE
RESULTS

Through well-orchestrated collaboration between the RRS and the Siemens Mobility team, the project resulted
in a robust, interactive touchscreen that effectively brought the story of Siemens Mobility’s influence on rail and transit to life. This touchscreen can be updated as content changes and could continue to be utilized at future conferences and expos for years to come.
